Allergy Diagnosis and Treatment

Handled by our expert team of allergists and immunologists

Diagnostic Services at Samitivej Sriracha Allergy Center:

  1. Skin Prick Test
Acute allergy testing through skin pricking to identify allergens. Helps patients avoid triggers and improve symptoms. Tests include airborne allergens (e.g., dust mites, cockroaches, pet dander) and food allergens (e.g., cow’s milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, seafood).
Preparation: Discontinue antihistamines 7-10 days prior. Results available 15 minutes after testing.

  2. Allergen-Specific IgE Blood Test
Acute allergy diagnosis via blood test to identify specific allergens. Detects both airborne and food allergens, with results available in about one week.

  3. Food and Drug Allergy Challenge Test
High-accuracy allergy testing by exposing the patient to suspected allergens. Tests can be open (patient-aware) or single-blind (only the doctor knows). Positive results confirm an allergic reaction to the tested substance.

  4. Pulmonary Function Tests

    • Peak Expiratory Flow Rate: Measures lung capacity using a peak flow meter to aid diagnosis and monitor symptoms.

    • Spirometry: Assesses lung function and bronchial response to bronchodilators, helping diagnose obstructive airway conditions.

  5. Exhaled Nitric Oxide Test (FeNO)
Measures fractional exhaled nitric oxide, which increases during airway inflammation. Useful in diagnosing asthma and guiding treatment adjustments.

Specialized Treatments at Samitivej Sriracha Allergy Center:

  1. Allergen Immunotherapy
Gradual exposure to allergens to build tolerance and reduce allergic reactions. Can minimize or eliminate medication use, enhancing quality of life.

    • Types: Injection or sublingual tablets/drops.

    • Duration: Requires continuous treatment for 3-5 years.

  2. Oral Immunotherapy for Food Allergies
Gradual introduction of allergenic foods for children over five years who have persistent or severe food allergies. Foods treated include wheat, cow’s milk, and eggs.

  3. Wet Wrap Therapy for Atopic Dermatitis
